National energy strategy has been driven by the need to improve efficiency and to consolidate energy resources of the country. Concepts of the strategy are based on the fundamentals of economic policy and oil strategy conducted by the Azerbaijan president Heydar Aliyev. This article gives comparative analysis of energy potential of the country, need to develop national energy strategy has been justified and priorities have been determined.
