Abstract

The railway transport system in Azerbaijan:

infrastructure security and transit potential

On the basis of economic evaluations are considered infrastructure especially rail transport system in Azerbaijan stemming from the new geopolitical situation, the analysis of transit capacity and logistics capabilities of the complex. As part of the "State Programme of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the development of railway transport system in 2010-2014" and the Concept of "Azerbaijan 2020: A Look into the Future" shows the main goals of modernization. The economic efficiency of the Project railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is an important transport corridor between Europe and Asia, as well as the role and importance of the railway transport system in Azerbaijan in the regional system of passenger and freight traffic.
