With the growing gas potentialAzerbaijanturns in new the global and regional power center. This quality takes the beginning from introduction in operation large shelf a gascondensate of structure «Chack-Deniz» with the general stocks on gas over one billion cube of meters and 200-300 million tons on a condensate located in Azerbaijan the sector Caspian the sea. Geologists assert that, in result drilling by estimated chinks in a southwest part of deposits taken stocks can increase here up to two billions cubic metre. Besides with new innovative the investment a stream increasing extraction in traditional sources and perspective deposits power power of the country even more will extend. It is the factor allowsAzerbaijanin the near future will turn and in the exporter of natural gas, to become reliable alternative a source in maintenance power to safety ofEuropeand the country.

Proceeding from this reality in article the role of the growing potential of natural gas in strengthening power safety of the country is appreciated and prospects are proved at optimum-rational its use multiplicate efficiency in national interests. The effective utilization of this potential demands the conceptual approach and causes formation of separate gas strategy, carrying out institutionally reforms, modernization of a branch infrastructure. Priorities new strategy are: reduction to a minimum of export norm of the natural gas which has stayed at the order; liberalization of a home market; creation of the modern enterprises making liquid, burnt and firm gases and gaseschemical, gasesdevices, gasesequipment rooms factories; transition to more economical mode in a consumer sector; restrukzation to abonent system in the innovative plan and formation of a mobile gas technopolis.
